Project Manager

Position Description

This position is responsible for professional level engineering-related tasks including civil/municipal design, CAD drafting, fieldwork including construction observation, and client relationships.

Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university preferred

  • 5+ year’s industry experience, construction management preferred

  • Professional Engineer license in the State of Wyoming or ability to obtain licensure

  • Design experience with AutoCAD Civil3D

  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS, WaterCAD, Microsoft Project preferred

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for travel as needed

Physical Requirements  

  • Ability to travel throughout Carbon County, Wyoming in adverse road and weather conditions, as necessary, and occasionally work remotely

  • Ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical demands of the job including surveying, materials testing, and construction observation

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design of municipal utilities including water supply and transmission lines, streets and roads, storm sewers and drainage, and sanitary sewers

  • Prepare project plans, including CAD drafting, and specifications

  • Write and present reports and studies

  • Develop funding strategies and secure project funding

  • Obtain necessary permits and work with permitting agencies

  • Prepare quantity schedules, and engineering and construction costs

  • Measure and estimate completed work quantities and prepare pay applications with contractor input

  • Perform fieldwork including surveying and construction observation, monitor contractor progress and contractor compliance with contract documents

  • Client communication including presenting proposals, reports, and project updates to boards and clients – must be capable of writing technical reports and correspondence with clients clearly and effectively

  • Perform project management tasks including attending client meetings (typically in evenings), scheduling, resource allocations, monitor budget status, and invoicing

Work Hours

  • Work is generally Monday through Friday with some Saturdays required during construction season

  • Salary is based on an average 40 hours per week but in construction season hours may be up to 60 hours per week

  • Daily hours may vary throughout the year

  • Some evening meetings are required to present to governmental boards
